Sandbox Mode
Sandbox mode lets you look around Guardian with sample devices when you haven’t installed an agent yet, so the dashboard, Agents, Alerts and Incidents pages aren’t empty. Sample devices are separate from real ones: they never count against your plan’s device limit and cannot be reached by any real agent.
Who can use it
Section titled “Who can use it”Sandbox mode is for organizations that have not installed any devices yet. The Enter Sandbox button in the top bar appears only while that is true, and only for Superadmins. Once your organization has a real, active device the button disappears and sandbox mode can’t be turned on, because switching a live organization to sample data would only hide its real fleet from everyone.
To show Guardian to someone else, or to train staff, use a separate demo organization rather than your live one.
Turning it on
Section titled “Turning it on”Click Enter Sandbox in the top bar. A banner appears across the top of every page, and it shows for everyone in your organization, so nobody is left wondering why the screens look different.
Sandbox mode turns itself off after 8 hours, and the banner shows when. A forgotten switch can’t leave your team looking at sample data indefinitely. While it is on, the first-run welcome screen is skipped.
Sample devices
Section titled “Sample devices”A new sandbox is empty. Click Load sample devices in the banner to add a small demo fleet: eight devices running a mix of Windows, Linux and macOS, with recent readings, a couple of live alerts and a resolved one, and one open incident. Clicking it again adds nothing more.
Remove sample devices deletes them, with all of their readings, alerts and the sample incident. Sample incidents appear only while sandbox mode is on, and real incidents are hidden from it.
Leaving
Section titled “Leaving”Click Exit sandbox in the banner, or Sandbox Mode in the top bar. Superadmins and Technicians can leave; only Superadmins can enter. When you install your first real device, leave the sandbox first, or simply wait for it to end.
Turning sandbox mode on and off, and loading or removing sample devices, is recorded in the Audit Log.
