Core Concepts

The central Guardian server. Every agent reports to it, and the dashboard reads from it. You don’t install or manage the hub yourself — it’s hosted for you.

The lightweight background service installed on a monitored device (server, workstation, or laptop). It reports hardware health, running processes, and uptime on a regular schedule, and can discover other devices on its local network.

Your organization’s account. Everything you create — agents, groups, alerts, users — belongs to your tenant and is invisible to every other Guardian customer.

A way to organize agents — by team, office, or function. Devices can be auto-assigned to a group at enrollment time, or moved manually later. Groups drive both the dashboard’s filtering and the visual clustering in Guardian Flow.

Optional physical-location metadata for a device — which office/site it’s in, and which rack, if it’s server hardware. Set this from Asset Inventory to unlock rack/site-based views.

A short-lived credential that lets a new agent register itself to your tenant. See Enrollment Links & Tokens.

A registered device is one running the Guardian agent. A discovered device is one your agents found on the local network but that isn’t running an agent itself (a printer, a switch, an unmanaged workstation) — visible in Guardian Flow, but with more limited data since nothing is reporting from it directly.
